Katelyn Karner
President
Class of 2025
Hi! My name is Katelyn Karner, I am from South Elgin, Illinois, and I am majoring in history and minoring in communication and American studies. I joined ESA as a way to give back to the local community, travel out of Foggy Bottom, and make new friends. My favorite part about ESA has been the the connections I have made with my sisters and folks in the community.
Erica Kong
Vice President of Events
Class of 2025
Hey, y’all, my name is Erica and I am so excited to be the president of ESA’s Delta Zeta chapter. I am a part of the Diamond Family and the Gamma pledge class. I am also proud big to my amazing triplets, Ariel, Jordan, and Cristina! I am a criminal justice major and sustainability minor from San Diego, CA. I joined ESA because I felt it was important to serve the community I was entering when I moved to DC. I am also a sister of the multicultural sorority Sigma Psi Zeta!
Laurin Still
Vice President of Finance
Class of 2026
Hey hey loves! I’m a junior at GW studying Journalism & Mass Communications in the School of Media & Public Affairs with a minor in marketing!! I’m a Navy kid so I’ve lived all around but am currently from Boiling Springs, PA (really small town in between Hershey & Harrisburg)! I joined ESA because I was looking for a community to be a part of and wanted something similar to Panhel with a little less pressure (& cost). I couldn’t be more grateful for ESA — I love the feeling of being able to give back to the DMV while also having an amazing group of girls around me that I’ve grown incredibly close with! As for me, I’m a huge cinephile & love to find cute plant, book, and coffee shops around DC :)
Jacqueline Lawson
Treasurer
Class of 2027
Hi! I’m Jacqueline from Plymouth, Massachusetts and am a political science major! I joined ESA in the fall of my freshman year because I was looking for a community of girls who had similar values to mine. I love going to the events different e-board members put on, getting to know all the sisters, and learning more about DC through volunteer work!
Andrea Wong
Secretary
Class of 2026
Hi everyone! My name is Andrea, I'm from Hong Kong and am currently a junior majoring in International Affairs. I joined ESA as a transfer student looking for a community at GW, and it was one of the best decisions I made! Not only have I met amazing friends, but it's been a really fun and fulfilling way to give back to the DC community! Outside of ESA, I am part of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and the Chinese American Student Association.
Abby Ruggles
Community Service Chair
Class of 2026
Hi all! My name is Abby and I'm a junior double majoring in political science and economics. I'm from Topsfield, Massachusetts and the community service chair for ESA this year. I'm in charge of planning and organizing our service events in the DMV area and keeping sisters on track for completing their service hours each semester. I joined ESA to be more engaged with the community that surrounds GW, and I'm so excited to continue to give back to others and ESA in this role! I'm entirely grateful to ESA for the community of stellar individuals that I've grown to know and love. Outside of ESA, I'm involved in the Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity and the GW Hatchet :)
Lauren Smith
Philanthropy Chair
Class of 2027
Hi, my name is Lauren! I’m a sophomore majoring in Environmental Science. I am from Parsippany, located in North Jersey. I am excited to be this year’s philanthropy chair and raise as much money as I can for St. Jude’s. I love being part of ESA because I have a passion for community service and love to spend time with our sisters! My favorite events have been during rush, service with Special Olympics, and the Lucky Dog service. I’m so excited to see everyone back in the fall!
Emily Swanson
Sisterhood Chair
Class of 2025
I'm from Dayton, Ohio, and I major in Organizational Sciences. I joined ESA to find a community that's committed to service, and I have been lucky to find so many wonderful friends in this organization. In the free time I don't have, I enjoy writing, talking about my hamster, and taking melancholic night walks around the city.
Urja Mehta
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Chair
Class of 2027
Hello loves! My name is Urja Mehta and I am from Mason, Ohio majoring in Public Health with a minor in organizational sciences. I joined ESA because, as an only child, I loved the idea of having a supportive sisterhood that can make a real impact in the Foggy Bottom and greater DC community! On E-Board, I am in charge of hosting celebratory events for all cultures and backgrounds, and making ESA a more representative and inclusive environment! My favorite part of ESA is all the love and kindness that's so apparent at all the events! Community service with sisters, E-board meetings, and planning DEI events are all so rewarding to me!
Eliza Carter
Public Relation Chair
Class of 2025
Hi my name is Eliza! I'm from a small town in Iowa, and my major is Political Science. I joined ESA because I came to GW with the intention of doing community service, and because it's a great motivator to have mandatory service hours. My favorite part (besides my Big, s/o Emily) is the block clean-ups where we pick up trash.
Jordan Strain
